The Firebird. Mainly because it was my namesake.

This is the exact copy I still have. [Dorothy Aitchison (Author), Martin Aitchison (Illustrator)] For a children's fairytale book, the illustrations were amazing and really helped to bring everything to life.

It was a Russian fairytale which apparently goes by the full name Tsarevitch Ivan, the Fire Bird and the Gray Wolf (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivan_Tsarevich_and_the_Grey_Wolf), but Ladybird Well-Loved Tales shortened it to simply The Firebird.

It's not about a Phoenix, specifically, but the Firebird (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firebird_%28Russian_folklore%29) seems to be rather analogous to it. And I loved the imagery of it when I was younger. For a children's book, the illustrations by Martin Aitchison were GORGEOUS. :) A beautiful Phoenix-like Firebird, a majestic golden-maned horse, a cool lone-wolf that randomly helped people. :D What more could I want?
